Homeschool Mother’s Journal: August 31, 2012

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Homeschool Mother’s Journal. This week we are featuring Meg from Homeschoolin Mama.

In my life this week…

We partied and will continue to party this weekend – my little Roo turned 7 on Wednesday!!!  I can not believe that she is 7 already!  It seems like just yesterday she was still curled up in my lap taking her afternoon nap – and now I can embarrass her by kissing her forehead in public!

In our homeschool this week…

This is our final week of Summer!  We are all party time this week because Tuesday is a different kind of party – Homeschool Style!

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

Keep it fun!  Any time I feel that school time is getting a bit tense that’s when I know it’s time for a silly break!  My kiddos are little (7yo and almost 2yo) so we usually dance and sing to Silly Songs with Larry.  You would not believe what a 10 minute karaoke break will do for my girls – totally worth it!

I am inspired by…

Other homeschooling moms!  I absolutely LOVE  reading everyone’s blogs and comments about how they teach and mold their own children each and every day.  I am constantly inspired by others photos and words about their good times and difficult times – keep up all the blogging ladies!

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

My husband!  Yes, I said my husband.  He has been working 14+ hours a day for the past few months now and I am beyond excited about having him home for 3 days with out needing to go out of town!

My favorite thing this week was…

While putting Roo to bed on the night of her birthday she says to me, “Mama can you believe I’m almost 8 years old!?!”  What?  Slow yourself child!!!!

Things I’m working on…

The finishing touches on our school room and planning.  I’m basically done but, well, I just really like planning.  So I’m still playing with it!

I’m cooking…

Beefy Mac-n-Cheese with Broccoli – both of my kiddos absolutely LOVE it and literally come running for it!  Some day I will be posting the recipe but that would require me to remember to take some photos BEFORE it’s all gone!

I’m grateful for…

Finally listening to God and my husband and I starting our family!  It took me so long to actually want to be a Mama but now I only want more kiddos!

I’m praying for…

God’s clear direction for our lives.  I always pray this prayer but some times I seem to pray harder for it – this is one of those times.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

My Little Roo – from her first hour in this world to year 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and now 7!  She is beautiful inside and out!

  1. I love your idea for a silly break. My kids are 13 & 8 but both LOVE to sing so I should borrow your idea. I also love the collage of your little girl. She is precious!
